Bloggers Share Their Blogging Mistakes

Welcome to Gauravonomics Blog! Subscribe to my combined feed in a feed reader or by e-mail and you'll never miss a single post. Thanks for visiting!

Daniel at Daily Blog Tips recently ran a collaborative blogging project on ‘blogging mistakes’.

Forty eight bloggers participated in the project and shared their learnings from their blogging mistakes. I contributed with my learning on why you should move to your own domain before it’s too late.

After reading through the forty eight posts, I found that bloggers make their biggest mistake in terms of -

- Not starting their blog on their own yourblog.com domain, or not installing Wordpress on the root directory.
- Not choosing an appropriate, easy to pronounce and easy to remember domain name.
- Not defining the focus and posting frequency for their blog, or deviating from their defined focus or posting frequency.
- Not building relationship with readers and other bloggers in their niche.
- Not focusing on feed subscribers.
- Monetizing the blog too early or too much.
- Focusing too little or too much on SEO and traffic generation.

I have been guilty of most of the seven blogging sins listed above, but I’m making these mistakes less often than before.

Here are my three favorite contributions -

- Don’t monetize your blog too early by Maki
- Don’t ignore the basics of SEO by Simonne
