Dachis Group’s David Armano on Social Business by Design
Welcome back to Gauravonomics Blog! Subscribe to my feed now and you'll never miss a single post!
Dachis Group senior partner David Armano has a great slide deck on ‘Social Business by Design’ –
Slide 37-43 are the most interesting and I really like the idea of using the four archetypes of Ecosystem (or connections), Hivemind (or culture), Dynamic Signal (or communication) and Metafilter (or filtering mechanism) to drive business partner optimization, workforce collaboration and customer participation. The slides talk about the transitions in these archetypes — from disparate silos to connected nodes (Ecosystem), from hoarding to collaborating (Hivemind), from static to dynamic (Dynamic Signal) and from filter failure to clear signals (Metafilter) — but don’t really give any details. I’ll really look forward to how Dachis Group builds upon this framework, so that these terms become more than buzzwords.
I had earlier written about how Dachis Group/ Headshift and Altimeter Group are driving the shift from social media marketing to social business strategy.
Since then, Larry Hawes and Lewis Green have attempted to define ’social business’. I think it’s pointless to try to define what a ’social business’ is, with reference to ’cause-based business’ (the term ’social marketing’ has the same connotation). It will be more useful to focus on how businesses can strategically use emerging social technologies and value systems in an integrated manner, across customers, partners and employees, to create long term business value.
By the way, Dave and I have been working on a position paper on the 20:20 Social approach to social business strategy. Expect it on Saturday.
Update: Here is the position paper Dave Evans and I have written on the 20:20 Social Approach to Social Business Strategy.
