Gauravonomics Blog or Gauravonomics Diary or Both?

Welcome to Gauravonomics! Subscribe to my RSS feed in a feed reader or by e-mail and you'll never miss my posts on marketing, technology and social media.

As you would have figured out by now, I’m never quite satisfied with my blog. As I learn more about the art and science of blogging, I find more and more things on the blog that need to be fixed. Yesterday was my day off from work and I spent most of it working on the biggest tweak on my blog ever since I shifted from Wordpress.com.

The thing is, Gauravonomics is not one blog anymore, I have split it into two separate blogs -

- At Gauravonomics Blog, I’ll write about blogging, marketing and personal development. If you want to read about what I’m thinking about, head over here.
- At Gauravonomics Diary, I’ll write about love, life and pop culture. If you want to read about what I’m doing/ feeling/ reading/ watching/ listening to, this is the blog to read.

I split the blog into two because I found myself writing for two separate sets of readers on the same blog. My older readers wanted more personal posts about what was happening in my life, but the focus of the blog had moved to what was happening in my head, resulting in a new set of readers looking for posts on marketing, technology and blogging tips. With the split, I’ll find it easier to have meaningful conversations with both sets of readers.

Of course, I’m hoping that you would want to read both the blogs, in which case, you should subscribe to both the feeds right away -

While we are on feeds, I have to make two more announcements -

- My category-wise feed experiment hasn’t really been a success and very few people have subscribed to these. While category-wise feeds will still be available at gauravonomics.com/[blog or diary]/category/[categoryname]/feed/, I’ll not promote them anymore. If you have subscribed to my category-wise feeds, I’ll request you to shift to either Gauravonomics Blog feed or Gauravonomics Diary feed.
- Very soon, I’ll start using the feeds.feedburner.com/DesiBlogging/ feed for another project, and if you have subscribed to this feed, I’ll request you to shift to Gauravonomics Diary feed.

I have set up a brand new homepage at gauravonomics.com, putting an end to the ‘what should I do with the root directory?’ question. In retrospect, it all worked out well because, if I had set up my original blog on the root directory, this split would have been super painful. Thanks once more to Ajay, Patrix, Shripriya and Gautam for being around when I was obsessed with the whole root directory issue.

Not setting up Wordpress on root directory was hurting me, by the way. The Technorati rank for gauravonomics.com is in the 16,000s as compared to gauravonomics.com/blog, which is in the 20,000s. While the Technorati Top 100 Most Linked list is too far away, I think I have a fair chance of entering the top 5,000 in a few months. And, no, I’m not satisfied with entering the Technorati Top 100 Most Favorited list. :-)

Finally, do subscribe to one or both the full feeds -

- do check out my all-new tongue-in-cheek about me page and do let me know what you think of the split blog idea.
