Sami Al Gharbia of Global Voices Advocacy recently interviewed me on digital activism in India.
I gave a brief history of digital activism and citizen journalism in India from the South East Asian Tsunami Blog to the Mediaah-TOI and IIPM controversies, to the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack, the Pink Chaddi Campaign, and the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. I also think aloud on why we we haven’t seen a significant mobile based citizen activism initiatives in India and talk at length about online caste and religious politics in India.
