The Grassroutes program funds fellowships for teams of young people who go on a road trip in India to work with change makers at the grassroots and document their work using social media tools.

I think it is a great idea and I was delighted when the Grassroutes team asked me to speak to their first batch of fellows on how to use social media for social change.

Here’s the twenty minute video I made for the Grassroutes fellows. In the talk, I focus on the importance of trying to use as many of the 4Cs of social media — user generated content, distributed collaboration, self organizing communities and the cumulative value of web 2.0 tools — to help change makers achieve their objectives of getting endorsement, creating engagement, raisin funds or mobilizing offline action for their cause –
